■
In NAmE it is more common for need to be used to speak about what is necessary, rather
than about what you must do.北美英语舍常用need表示有必 要,M非必定要做某事:/ don’t /7m/ to go home yet—it's still early. [BrE and NAmE = it isn^t necessary)

You
don’t need to go home yet—we never go to bed before
■
The difference is even more noticeable in
the past tenses. M: He need
to go to hospital, but he went just to reassure
himself.
(北美英语)◊ We have 夸one to
hospital, but he went just to reassure himself. [BrE =he t/wf wflsnY necesso/y)也;4s1不必
意为“他做了不需要做的事”)◊Wed/加to go to hospital after all~he only
had a few bruises.
(8nE
= he didn’t go)其实他无须去医院,他只是有点
